Rambold was accused of raping his 14-year-old student, Cherice Moralez, who later killed herself.

Judge Todd Baugh sentenced him to only 30 days in jail. Baugh blamed the victim, saying that she was “older than her chronological age". He also said she “was as much in control of the situation as he was”.

 

After backlash, Baugh realized it was illegal for that short of a sentence and changed it to 10 years jail time
